In our surgical text-books and monographs attention is given to the alteration in shape which the articulation of the shoulder-joint undergoes in old cases of dislocation. Such changes have usually been ascribed to absorption caused by disturbed pressure relations consequent on the new position of the bony surfaces concerned. Alterations and irregularities seen in the glenoid fossa of the scapula have been figured and described as occurring after such injuries, but the similar conditions of the head of the humerus are
